This e-commerce site allows the consumers to obtain information, to order something, and to pay bills. The transaction processing also is carried out in the web. It is known as online shopping or in the other word, it is an e-commerce website accepting and processing a customer’s credit or debit card payment online and in real time, in return for goods or services.

Nowadays, there are many transactional e-commerce sites exist in Malaysia. One of famous and widely used e-commerce site is TGV cinemas. As far as we know, TGV cinemas are called as Tanjong Golden Village Cinemas. The largest cinema is located in Sunway Pyramid with 12 screens and 2598 seats. One of the many challenges facing the countries in the Asia-Pacific today is preparing their societies and governments for globalization and the information and communication revolution. Policy-makers, business executives, NGO activists, academics, and ordinary citizens are increasingly concerned with the need to make their societies competitive in the emergent information economy. Information and communications technologies (ICTs) are playing an increasingly vital role in the daily lives of people, revolutionizing work and leisure and changing the rules of doing business. In the realm of government, ICT applications are promising to enhance the delivery of public goods and services to citizens not only by improving the process and management of government, but also by redefining the traditional concepts of citizenship and democracy.

What is e-Government?
Definitions of e-government range from “the use of information technology to free movement of information to overcome the physical bounds of traditional paper and physical based systems”to “the use of technology to enhance the access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens, business partners and employees.” The common theme behind these definitions is that e-government involves the automation or computerization of existing paper-based procedures that will prompt new styles of leadership, new ways of debating and deciding strategies, new ways of transacting business, new ways of listening to citizens and communities, and new ways of organizing and delivering information.

The implementation of e-government in Malaysia started since the initiation of Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) in 1996 by the Malaysian government. Ultimately, e-government aims to enhance access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens. More important, it aims to help strengthen government’s drive toward effective governance and increased transparency to better manage a country’s social and economic resources for development. e-Government aims to make interaction with citizens, businesses, government employees, government agencies and other governments more convenient, friendly, transparent, inexpensive and effective.

Any sound e-government policy must consider a citizen-centered approach. This means that e-government should be an end-user or demand-driven service. However, many citizens do not use e-government for several reasons, among these unfamiliarity with ICT, lack of access, lack of training, and concerns about privacy and security of information. While e-government may provide ease and convenience in the delivery of public services, and offer innovative government services, none of these will prompt citizen use unless the concerns mentioned above are first addressed.

What is e-learning???
E-learning is a term for all types of technology-enhanced learning (TEL), where technology is used to support the learning process. It is defined as a learning experience that uses a wide spectrum of technologies, mainly Internet or computer-based, to reach learners. E-learning involves the use of a computer or electronic device in skills and knowledge such as deliver training, educational or learning resources through Internet or an Intranet. They do not involve face-to-face action during the learning process because the studying process is done online.

Lately, most of the University also provide e-learning method. One of the local Universities, MARA University of Technology (UTM) also offered e-learning in the year 1990. There are advantages and disadvantages for using e-learning to conduct their study.

Below are the pros and cons of e-learning.
Pros of E-learning
Flexibility. From students’ perspectives, they can access the course whenever and wherever they want to with an internet connection. For those students who are a part-timer will not be bound by time and place. They can conduct their study after done their part-time job.

Convenience. For students who are live far away from school will be more convenient for them. By having e-learning method, they can learn at home without physically present in the university. By doing so, they can avoid traffic jam or wastage of travel cost and also save lots of time.

Wider learning option. Student can improved their studies and gain more information from foreign country. Instead of getting information from the library, students now can access to the resources upload by other foreign university such as get teaching materials through e-libraries. They can exchange information and opinion among several countries in the process of studies.

Improve IT skills. Students will have their IT skills improved by learning through computer based. It may also help the student in future on the employ ability.

Capability to study on their own space. Students can study at anywhere that makes the student feel comfortable and can let them absorb more easily.

Cons of E-learning
Lack of face-to-face communication. Students may face some confusion along the learning process due to lack of face-to-face communication. Students may also lose the direction during the learning process because there are no teachers who are present physically to explain or guide these students.

Access. Students have difficulty on access to the internet or
intranet when the network is poor. Besides, students who lack of IT knowledge or computer skills will have problem on E-learning process. Slow or unreliable Internet connections are such a frustrating situation faced by students.

Isolation. Students may feel isolated and unsupported or miss social interaction while learning through e-learning. Student may feel bored due to no interaction and will caused them have no patience to continue their studies.

Costly. Students have to subscribe high-speed internet to enhance the speed of downloading to avoid the delay of studies. Besides, students have to avoid using old computer for their studies. Subscribe a high-speed internet and buy a new version computer are a big amount for students to bear.

Personality. Students who have low motivation will faced lots of problem such as demotivate in studying since there is no any supervision when they conduct their studies. Furthermore, spoon feed will also become students’ habit since all the sources are provided online, sooner or later they will become very dependent and lazy type person. They will face some problem when they are in the community because they will expect all the information will be given to them.

In a nutshell, there are advantages and disadvantages between the E-learning method and the go to school study method.

After reviewing a post of “UK to get tough with illegal downloader” from My E-Commerce blog, I found out that most of user will attempt to download their favorites music or movie for internet. However, there are certain situations that have to be aware by user when they download the files from internet because UK government is working on a new law to have this illegal downloader's internet connection to be cut off.

Illegal download is downloading the uploaded files via peer-to-peer networks without paying any copyright. The music industry claims it has lost due to illegal music downloading and the most common average of numbers seems to sit around a loss of 20 percent globally in sales since 1999.

There are some web sites and software program provide such service to internet users with reasonable value for downloading music, movie, software and so on. These are some of the popular services that are available for user to use for downloading such as eMusic, Apple’s iTunes, Windows Media, Napster, and Rhapsody.
In Malaysia, the government also establishes education program to reduce software piracy by using two-way approach. The approaches are enforcement and education.

Enforcement (Ops Tulen):
Continuous raiding companies that use illegal software as well the illegal vendors selling the pirated software. A total of RM12.63 million worth of pirated hardware and software has been seized since 2002. A lot of the IT malls in Malaysia have been raided for the past few months.

Education (Sikap Tulen):
To educate the relevant groups on the importance of respecting Intellectual Property and stay away from pirated software. Those targeted groups are professionals, companies, public and IT malls.

I had reviewed one of the posts from My E-Commerce blog that is using Touch’n Go to buy fast food.Since Touch'n Go was introduced, it actually enhances the convenience of its users. Unauthorized Tapping Into Home WIFI - Teenager is facing a Jail term.

When I saw on this post, I can’t stop laughing on it!

Unbelievable, it is the first time I heard about that unauthorized tapping others’ home WiFi ended in the jail. When I first saw on the title, I get very excited and curious how it could happen by continue reading on the post. However, the post did not give much information; therefore, I have googled it to prove to myself and also others who are feeling the same like me right now.

It is a true story! It really happened, whereby a 17 years old teen in Singapore, Garyl Tan Jia Luo, is the first person to be charged with tapping into someone else’s wireless internet connection under the Computer Misuse Act. She is facing up to 3 years in prison for piggybacking his neighbour’s WiFi.

Piggybacking is actually means when someone finds an unlocked or open network and log into it without permission. So, now everyone knows what most of us have doing so far is actually called PIGGYBACKING. If piggybacking is a crime, I believe most of us will also end in a jail like Garyl. So, everyone may starts to ask, is it piggybacking really a CRIME? What’s wrong with piggybacking?

Whether piggybacking is a crime is actually depends on each country’s norms and regulation.

In my opinion, yes, it can be considered that piggybacking is a kind of wrong doings because by legally you do not pay for and use it without permission. It means that you are actually stealing someone else’s signal. Stealing is a kind of crime in the first place because you are taking services that you aren’t entitled to, whether or not the person concern about it. If someone left their car doors opens, that is not an invitation for you to take it or even to sit in it. Same situation applies there.

However, some might be thinking that the owner of the home WiFi has the responsibility too. The owner who sets up the WiFi, if unwilling to let others to have access on it, he or she should have set a security password on it as the WiFi has such function. However, the owner did not do so. Therefore, in another way, it is actually implies to the internet users that it is a free and open WiFi available to be accessed. It should not be a crime for that reason.

So, unauthorized access to someone else’s network is an unethical act unless it is a public available WiFi. Even though some owner may not concern about it, it is better not to do so because you may not know one day you might be the next Garyl.

Social engineering is a type of nontechnical attack that uses social pressures to trick computer user into compromising computer networks to which those individuals have access. Phishers attempt to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an electronic communication. It is often done by impersonating legitimate web sites such as eBay, PayPal and online banking. Phishing is typically carried out using email or an instant message.

Phishing is a significant and growing problem which threatens to impose increasing monetary losses on businesses and to shatter consumer confidence in e-commerce. Phishing attacks have the potential to become much more sophisticated, making user-based protection mechanisms fragile given the user population of non-experts.

Wants to know the victims of phishing in Malaysia?

In September 2004, a Citibank phishing e-mail started to spread around via e-mail in Malaysia, trying to warn the customers of possible fraud which affecting their accounts and urge them to log in to check the status.

In year of 2006, RHB Bank was also once became the target of phishing scam. Such fake e-mail is sent by unauthorized party to deceive the users.

Of course, the most recent case happened in Malaysia is Phishing scams e-mail from Maybank Malaysia. This took place during March 2009. The fake e-mails are widely sent to mislead customers and even the public who are not Maybank's customer.

Prevention is better than cure!! Therefore, there are several steps available for computer users like us to avoid being phished.

1. Don’t ever TRUST
Don’t ever trust e-mails that urgently requesting personal financial information. Phishers want you to react immediately and therefore include many upsetting or exciting statements which trigger fear or happiness. The most popular method is by presenting you as the winner of a lottery. (So don't be silly, there's no free lunch in the world).

2. Don’t CLICK anything

Avoid clicking any links directly from your e-mails. Rather, open a new browser to open the links. This is because users may overlook the links which sometimes being masked, meaning that the link you see does not take you to that address but somewhere different, and usually an illegitimate Web site.

3. Check the SENDER’s e-mail
When the users receive any e-mail asking them to verify their account information, the users should check the sender’s e-mail address. When the e-mail address is not the domain of a legitimate bank, then the possibility of a phishing e-mail is obviously ascertain.

4. Check for “Https” rather than “http”
Users should always check whether there is an “s” after the “http” in the URL. When there is a “https” appears, most probably that it is a phishing e-mail. To make the phishing e-mail messages look even more legitimate, they may place a link in the e-mail which appears to go to the legitimate Web site, however, it actually brings you to a phony scam site or possibly a pop-up window that looks exactly like the official site.

Nowadays, computers become the most common technology devices for individuals, businesses and organizations. People use computers to create, store and manage information or data. Therefore, the basic computer security plays an important role in protecting our information or data from losses, damages or misuse by others. Similarly, securities toward online internet are also important. Organizations which conduct their businesses through internet are often attacked by certain security threats. Since the internet is available for everyone, so people can access easily to the internet in order to download or upload any software programs they desire; or communicate with others through social networking. Nowadays, many companies will prefer to convert their business into e-commerce system. They rather buy and sell their products or services through internet compare to having a physical store to sell their products or services.

An example of the e-commerce failure is Toys R Us Company. Toys R Us Company is a click-and-mortar company. They conduct some of their business through online but their primary business is done in the physical world. This company is the leading retailers of toys, children's apparel and baby products. In order to provide the customers the products and services whenever and wherever they need, Toys R Us announced its plans to create an e-commerce subsidiary- ToysRus.com. ToysRus.com has established in 1999 as a premier online toy, video game and baby store outlet.

The causes of failure:

The ToysRus.com fails to handle the orders and also had a lost track of thousands of orders or failed to deliver them on time. Although the company had pumped millions of dollars into setting up its own online operation and distribution network for order fulfilment it had to announced 75% slump in profit 2000. The main failure cause is delivery of stock to customer is not on time. In the case of these online retailers, even though there was a wide range of experience among the leaders, it may have been the lack of specific industry knowledge that contributed to the failure.

Hi there, everyone. I am Clara Cheng from tutorial group 11. Well, one of the subjects that I took this semester which is E-Commerce require us to create a blog for our assignment. Due to this reason, I am setting up this blog by introduce myself.

Hi Hi everyone!! My name is Quek Chaw Mien. All my friends like to call me "Fried Mee" or "Mee Goreng". This is because my name “Chaw Mien” translates to Chinese mean fried mee. This is my first time to write the blog and introduce myself to every reader. Currently, I am year 3 semester 1 student from University Tunku Abdul Rahman (Sungai long) and taking course in Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) Accounting. Other than that, my hometown at Seremban but I stay in Sungai long Scotpine condominium for study purpose. One of our team members Clara, she also stay with me and we are roommate plus classmate. Actually, I just can describe myself as a simple and normal girl. Most of the girl basic characteristic I also have it, nothing special for me. Ha Ha(^_^) ... At here, I like swim and yoga when I am free or when I feel pressure on my study. Swimming can make me feel very refreshing after every swim and yoga teaches me how to relax my mind. That why, I love it so much...Besides that, I also like singing at Green Box with my friends, shopping, listening music and travelling too. Although I notice that my vocal is not pleasing to the ear but I think is passable compare to other my friends. Since my house has internet, I realized that internet already become part of my life. Honestly, most of the time when i back from school, the first thing I will open my laptop and start to log in my favorite website or chat with friends. Sometimes, I take my lunch or dinner together with watching drama at same time.

Hi ~ I'm being requested to introduce myself in this blog. I know it is kind of boring to introduce myself like a standard one student when you are being asked in the class to introduce yourself. But anyhow, I'm Yap Wei Chien or you can call me as WC or Jane. I don't mind which one you call me as long I can hear the sound like my name is enough for me. I'm currently pursuing a degree in accounting course and I'm now in my final year in UTAR (Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman). As for my age, it is a sensitive question for a girl. So for GUY, please don't be upset about it because in this age, I guess nobody will care about age gap so don't feel shy and talk to me. I'm an outgoing girl and I like to travel a lot even though most of my time I have spent in sleeping. Other than that, I also like to go shopping too. I guess 99% of girls like shopping so do I even guys this day like shopping too. I can't think about a day where guy and girl will fight for shopping - HAHaHAHA... XD... ha ha..I'm fine here~halo everyone ..I'm Chee Ying, you can called me snake also. I'm Year 3 Sem 1 student of UTAR, 21 years old and come from Tampin,Negeri Sembilan. The reason why have to write this blog is because of the subject of e-commerce, so the first thing need to do is introduction. My hobby is play badminton. This is because play badminton not only can help me to keep strong and healthy body and also can train my brain how to bear down the other player. I hope i can be like "LIN DAN" one day in future...wahaha~Beside that my stomach is always craving for food so that why i getting fatter and fatter now..haiz~i will try my best to play hard in playing badminton in order to lose my weight!!ha ha!
